Ramblings of a bored and middle-aged southern belle
No one seems interested in what I'm saying; not surprised. These are mostly ramblings from a malcontent, one who is rather aged, and not of interest to anybody but me! Anyway, I'm wondering if all are having a safe and happy holiday here in the states; it's hot and muggyhere in Central Florida and the clouds are playing hide and seek in the backyard, sometimes allowing the sun to shine brilliantly, other times covering up a good portion of it, making the day look later and more sinister than it actually is. Gotta return to work tomorrow, yuck. Wish I could afford to retire early. Wonder if that would motivate me to do the things that I enjoy?

Starting out, now what?
Hi there. I'm a middle-aged Florida native, raised in Cocoa, Florida, during the space coast boom of the 1950s and 60s. I quit college after two years, am now working in the medical field (though my college major was Music Ed), and looking for purpose in my life, since I'm on the second half of it. Do I go back to college part-time and pursue the courses that interest me? Do I remain an inert, mostly unmotivated lump and allow my current job to define me? I just don't know how or what to pursue in the autumn of my earthly journey. I'm wondering how many other middle-aged folks are out there wrestling with the same thoughts ~ or are there any? My husband reduces everything in life down to a simple credo, "know what you want, set it as a goal, and then pursue it." Maybe I just think too much, ponder too much, mull over stuff too much, and then take no action because of the time I've spent doing nothing but thinking! I'm hoping this blog will provide me with some insight into what I want and how to go about getting it.
